As women of prayer, Dominicans have their hearts centered on the Lord.  They develop relationship with God through private prayer.  A period of contemplation in silence is set aside in which each sister approaches God as He leads her.  This practice of private prayer continuous throughout the life of the cloistered nun and gives strength and vitality to all the forms of prayer by which she builds up the people of God.  She offers up prayers and supplications to God, interceding for the needs and salvation of the world.
